Bail Facts

The US Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Statistics reports that commercial bail is the most effective court appearance system. 
Bondsmen have the authority to arrest those for whom they have posted bail.  Bondsmen arrest and surrender 98% of their clients who fail to appear in court.

At a conservative rate of $40 to house an inmate per day, and considering the total number of inmates released into the custody of North Carolina bondsmen, bondsmen save our State over one billion dollars a year.  No other pretrial release system can provide these savings and offer these services at no cost to the taxpayer.

Approximately 30% of licensees are female.

1085 of all licensees hold surety licenses

169 of licensees hold professional licenses and of these professionals, 116 also hold surety licenses

332 of all licensees hold runners licenses.  Of all runners, 164 also hold surety licenses.
